firstly just have a look in the socket to see if there's anything obstructing the contacts, don't poke anything in it like a key as it'll just blow the fuse, if there's crud in the hole, hoover it out.

Richard. September 2008. The central fuse box is behind the glove box. Open the glove box, pull in the sides and remove the glove box. There's a map to the fuses on the side of the glove box, the cigarette lighter one is on the second row from the top, second one in from the left. Just pull it out and replace.

Place the ground clip on any clean chassis ground, and verify the test light works. Now locate the cigarette lighter fuse and test both sides of the fuse. The ignition switch must be in the on position, and you’ll need a test light. You can check out the test light I use here on the Auto electrical tools page.
5331 posts · Joined 2018. #10 · Jul 5, 2021. Simply putting the lighter in place should not affect anything as there is zero load. Equally, if you have wired it in correctly (difficult to get wrong TBH) the whatever load you place on it will be the same irrespective of the actual lighter. t0OxSh.
