Another option could be Heavy Duties: have a look to them ( www.heavyduties.ro ), cheaper than others but really well done, compact (less than 1 meter wide) and a lot of capacity (88 liters). .I actually just performed a Google search on "Africa Twin Problems" and found quite a lot of fork seals & DCT problems, some electrical and hard to start issues, some rust and button sticking issues. They are not the Honda XR400 of the ADV world.
34. Location: Currently in T or C area of NM. Checking to see if anyone else has had this problem. After changing the rear tire my ABS and Traction Control lights won't go off. The rear ABS does not work. And my DCT won't shift out of 1st gear (auto or manual). I'm thinking its the rear ABS/TC wheel speed sensor.
There is a one bolt in DCT transmission that could cause this issue. To identify it just roll the bike couple meters back and forward, then try to engage the gear. If it works - than it is the bolt. Cost about 3$, but requires disassembling of the clutch. Problem known by owning NC 700 DCT for 6 years before AT. Well, Honda knows this as well.View attachment 59879. So basicly if abs light blinks then the problem is in abs system. If MIL light blinks then the problem is in PGM-FI system. And if you are getting DTC blinks from gear position indicator as blinking dash then you need to check DCT (dual clutch transmission) to find your problem. As others have said, Honda has spent time designing an engine including what oil to run in it. Sure, in summer you could run pure 40 weight oil, just make sure it warms up first. And then see what it's like when you ride the bike. Similarly, you can run super low viscosity oil, full synthetic etc. and test that. There is always at least one guy who calls my 2016 Africa Twin DCT a "scooter". I love my 998cc scooter with auto tranny Let those 'have-nots' call it whatever, that makes them less jealous, LOL PS make sure you are familiar with the normal clunking noise to differentiate with other noises coming from or near the gearbox. Ciro. · #2 · May 21, 2021. Stalled my Africa Twin 1100 today for the first time! I was very shocked as I did not know it can happen. The bike just went for its first service and only covered 800 miles. The bike was not cold or particularly warm when it happened. At a traffic light in D mode, just a normal smooth acceleration and it stalled. vVlgW.
